Have you ever thought about trying silver clay? It's like pure magic! You can roll it, mould it, create 3d forms, then fire it in a kiln and it turns into silver. Magic!! During this class you will create a stone set ring and pendant. TELL ME MORE........... You will be tutored by Kelly ~ she has over over 15 years experience in working with Silver clay, one of the first tutors on the Island to be qualified to teach Silver clay so you are in great hands! This class will give you all the knowledge you need to get started with precious metal clay, as well as being a great class for those wishing to further their skills. You will be guided through how to work with it, look after it, repair it, and bond it.You will start by making the ring, learning how to size the clay, texture it, roll it wrap it!! There will be a variety of textures you can imprint into the surface and you'll be able to cut it to a shape of your choice. After choosing your stone you will learn how to set it into the clay. This will then be left to dry before firing. Meanwhile you can then experiment further with your remaining clay, creating a pendant of your choice. Once all your creations are fired you will polish them up and add fittings to them, ready to wear home and admire your handy work! IS THIS CLASS RIGHT FOR ME?........... This class is perfect for total beginners as well as those wishing to further their skills. Clay is wonderful as it is gentle on the hands compared to more traditional silversmithing. If you enjoy delicate crafting such as cake decorating, beading, fine painting etc then you will feel at home with silver clay. This class is for over 18's only WHAT SHOULD I BRING?........
