Sea-glass Ring

Service Description

Using Sea glass found on the Islands beaches, you will learn how to set them in silver to create a beautiful natural treasure to wear as a ring. TELL ME MORE....... A lovely day with lots of technical skills to learn. You will start the day making a silver ring. We will work on sizing, forming and soldering the ring making it the perfect fit. We will then move onto setting the glass by forming a bezel to the shape of your chosen piece, then soldering this onto a base before cutting way the excess and working on the finish. This will then be soldered to the base and polished up before you set the stone into place. If you have any of your own beach glass that you would like to use please bring it with you. IS THIS CLASS RIGHT FOR ME?........ This day is not suitable for total beginners, as it is a more in-depth and fiddly than some of our other courses. We ask that you have been and made something with us before so you are used to working with silver already. Great for those wishing to further their skills WHAT SHOULD I BRING?........ Please bring some lunch! We will take a short break in the middle of the day to refuel. We will also keep you topped up with refreshments and sweet treats throughout the day. A notebook is a good idea, as well as glasses if you need them. If you would like to use a piece of your own seagrass please bring a selection with you. For this style of setting they would need to be flatter pieces, no thicker than 5mm. THE IMPORTANT BIT...... Please ensure that long hair is tied back and that you do not wear floaty sleeves or open toe shoes. Your safety is our priority! Over 18's only This class runs from 10am-4pm, although the end time is approximate and may run over slightly Please note - We require a minimum attendance for this workshop to go ahead. If this is not met, we will offer you an alternative date or a refund We can't wait to see you!
